If your LG Washer display is showing rH, the machine is in Rinse Hold mode — the wash cycle has completed but the machine is holding water in the drum at the end of the rinse phase, waiting for you to select what to do next. rH is not an error code — it is a deliberate mode selected before the cycle started. Here is what it means and how to continue.

Follow the steps below one at a time — many error codes can be fixed faster than they look.

⚡ Quick Fix – Top 3 Steps

  1. Press Start/Pause to continue to spin and drain. When rH is displayed, pressing Start or Start/Pause will resume the cycle and the machine will drain and spin as normal. The laundry will then be ready to unload.
  2. Select a Spin or Drain+Spin cycle if Start does not proceed automatically. On some LG Washer models, pressing Start when in rH mode advances to spin. On others, you may need to select the Spin cycle program separately and press Start. Either approach will drain the water and complete the cycle.
  3. Avoid leaving laundry sitting in water for too long. Rinse Hold is useful for delicate fabrics that crease easily or to delay the spin until a convenient time. However, laundry should not be left sitting in water for more than 2–3 hours, as this can promote mildew and odour in the load.

What Does LG Washer rH Mean?

rH stands for Rinse Hold. It is a wash option on LG Washers that stops the cycle after the final rinse, holding the laundry in the rinse water rather than proceeding to spin. This is useful for delicate or linen items that should not be spun immediately, or when you want to control the exact time the spin occurs. It is activated by selecting the Rinse Hold option before starting the cycle.

If rH appeared without you deliberately selecting it, check whether the Rinse Hold option was accidentally activated on the control panel. On many LG Washer models, Rinse Hold is a dedicated button or is combined with another option button.
